Herreshoff 12 1/2 | One of the most beloved designs. In 1914, famed designer Nathaniel (Captain Nat) Herreshoff drew plans for the “Buzzard’s Bay Boy’s Boat,” for yachtsmen who wanted a training sailboat for their children. This timeless design has never lost its popularity and appeal. Over 3000 have been built. Wooden versions with the traditional gaff sail are still being built, as well as fiberglass versions with Marconi sails. There are active racing fleets in New England.
