About Ferrari Arno XI Limited Edition – Amati

(AM1610)

The Ferrari Arno XI is a stunning and powerful vessel that combines the sleek and elegant design of a Ferrari sports car with the speed and agility of a high-performance racing boat. It is a true masterpiece of engineering and craftsmanship, built to dominate the waters and leave a lasting impression wherever it goes. The boat was designed by Achille Castoldi, a renowned Italian powerboat racer, in collaboration with Enzo Ferrari himself. It was built in the early 1950s and quickly became a legend in the world of powerboat racing.

At first glance, the Ferrari Arno XI looks like a Ferrari car that has been transformed into a boat. The iconic Ferrari red color, the prancing horse logo, and the sleek curves and lines of the hull all bear a striking resemblance to the famous sports cars. However, upon closer inspection, it becomes clear that this is no ordinary boat. It is a finely tuned machine, built for speed and performance.

In the early ‘sixties, Nando Dell Orto the famous powerboat racer, decided to mount a 12 cylinder Ferrari engine on a 3 point hull designed by the Timossi shipyards for the 800 kg inboard class and built in 1953. the engine was specially prepared by Rinaldo Tinarelli, better known as the wizard. The hull structure, with solid wood formers and marine ply skin, was both flexible and strong enough to withstand the stresses of racing. The engine fairing and tail fin, painted Ferrari red with the famous prancing horse logo, soon became synonyms for sheer power.

Amati’s Ferrari Arno XI Limited Edition kit includes ready made fiberglass hull, completely planked with mahogany wood ready to be varnished. The superstructure is pre-made in one piece in matt white fiberglass ready to be painted. The seat, cabin padding and headrest are hand made and covered with red simulated leather, ready sewn. All fittings, accessories and exhaust pipes are cast in solid brass and chrome plated. This wooden model ship kit includes very detailed photo-etched parts to complete this realistic model.

About the Ferrari Arno XI

The Ferrari Arno XI is powered by a massive V12 engine, the same type used in Ferrari’s Formula One cars at the time. This 12-cylinder engine produces an astounding 600 horsepower, allowing the boat to reach speeds of over 150 miles per hour. To put that into perspective, that’s faster than most modern speedboats and even some airplanes. The engine is located in the rear of the boat, just like in a Ferrari car, and is protected by a transparent cover that allows onlookers to admire its beauty and power.

The Ferrari Arno XI  is not only fast but also incredibly agile. Its lightweight design, aerodynamic shape, and advanced hydrodynamics allow it to glide effortlessly through the water and make sharp turns with precision. It has a unique three-point hydroplane design, with two sponsons on either side of the hull and a single planing surface in the center. This design helps the boat to achieve maximum speed while also providing stability and control.

The interior of the Ferrari Arno XI is just as luxurious and stylish as its exterior. The cockpit is designed to resemble a Ferrari car’s dashboard, with a steering wheel, gauges, and switches all placed strategically for the driver’s convenience. The seats are made from the finest leather and are ergonomically designed for maximum comfort during high-speed races. The boat also features a custom-made racing seat for the driver, complete with a Ferrari logo stitched into the headrest.
