DEAR FRIENDS,

WOW, 107 AND COUNTING!! We’ve aged well and BlueJacket is still around because what we do is fun. It’s fun because of the history and tradition of the vessels that we recreate and the knowledge that we gain from them; it’s fun because of our wonderful, talented staff; and it’s fun because of all the nice, interesting people with whom we have the opportunity of interacting. I know that it is not possible for many of you, but please let me extend an open invitation to visit BlueJacket. You will find over 100 wooden model boat kits in our gallery, our workshops and metal foundry, and a warm welcome from each and every one of us. This is where we build our wooden ship kits and models - not in some third world country! Besides, the coast of Maine is a great place to visit. With hard work, the support of our loyal customer base, the energy of our staff, and a little bit of luck, we start our 107th year in business with optimism, enthusiasm and the certainty that we will be continuing into the foreseeable future. Suzi & Jeff Marger, and the whole motley BlueJacket crew.

With his usual attention to historical accuracy, Dr. Al Ross has created kits of the GEARING (scale 1/16"= 1') in both her WWII configuration and after her FRAM (Fleet Rehabilitation and Modernization) of the 1960s. These kits are truly works of art. Each kit includes a carved solid hull, etched brass and Britannia fittings, and detailed instructions. Recommended for expert modelers only.
